Day 03 – Your parents, in great detail
...Christ on a crutch, do I have to? -_- I hate talking about my parents...
...Aaand Yami's telling me to suck it up, so, here goes.I'm going to have nightmares tonight, I just know it...
I don't like my parents. In fact, you could say I hate them.
If you haven't figured it out, I'm not the kind of guy who hates people easily or often.
Their names are Ennosuke and Chiaki Mutou. Currently, they're serving a life sentence (with the possibility of parole) at Coos County Prison, on charges of aggravated assault, endangerment of a child, battery, and battery against a child.
Yeah. That's why I don't like talking about them. I've still got the scars. Especially that big, long one on my back from when they were arrested. My father attacked me with a kitchen knife when I brought the police home after school.
I'm not sure what gave me the courage to finally tell the cops. I'm not sure I'll ever know. I was six. The abuse had gone on as long as I can remember. Thankfully, it was only physical and mental. I never had to deal with... *wince* sexual abuse.
At any rate, after they were arrested, Grandpa took custody of me and eventually adopted me.
That's it. I don't think I can talk about it anymore...

My parents were the polar opposite of Yugi's. I can't imagine having a more loving family.
My father was Pharaoh Semerkhet. My mother's name was Kainebet. Despite all the time he spent, well, ruling, Father always spent time alone with me every day. Naturally, though, I still saw more of Mother than I did of him, and more of my friends Malik and Methos than either of them.
My mother actually outlived me. That was unusual in the time I lived. It also meant that my son, Atanu, got to know his grandmother. (I never knew my grandfather, Anedjib, or his wife. Most children didn't know their grandparents in my time.)
Father, on the other hand... Well. If he'd been alive when I died, I would never have taken the throne, would never have been Pharaoh. I would still have been the Crown Prince. He died five years before I did. I think, after the deaths of Saikeded and Atskare (Methos's and Malik's fathers, respectively), he lost the will to live. They had been as close to one another as Methos, Malik, and I were.
I was there when he died.... It was the hardest moment of my entire life up until that point.
After I died, I'm sure my mother acted as regent, either until she, herself died, or until Atanu was old enough to hold the throne himself. I'm unsure of events directly after my death. After all, I was asleep.
I miss them sometimes. I know they are happy in tuat, however. That and my memories of them are enough.
