[LOCKED: April, Kat, Bakura/Malik] Dominion Trip, Mid-January 3000 CE

((Continued from here. Kat does not have an RP journal of her own, so she'll be played through either Yugi's or Bakura's, depending on whoever's logged in at the time. Most likely Yugi. Kat now has an RP journal at toreador_saviour.))

When Yugi, Yami, Bakura, and April PINPoint into Dominion, they're closer to their destination than they were the last time April was here. The January air is positively chilly, and the sky is currently clouded over. A couple of inches of snow cover everything except the streets and sidewalks.

Yugi takes a moment to orient himself, then says, "Oh good, we're actually near Bakura's place. Kat's apartment is just down the road." He points towards a tall, fourteen-storey building a couple of blocks to the east by way of demonstration.

"You believe that my Beast and I have the same personality? I have struggled against the Beast too. For years I denied it. And it never helped."

"It made things worse."

But April does understand where Kat is coming from. She likely still thinks of herself as human. Her 'embrace' was such a recent event after all.

"When you can't allow an wild animal to roam free, and it is too dangerous to cage it... I guess I would suggest mentally tranquilizing it. We can tie your mantra word to a hypnotic calming agent that will affect your Beast."

"I could do it too... place the right techniques in your head. And give you the wording you need to control. it."

Kat looks suddenly very embarrassed. "That—I didn't mean it like that, I'm sorry."

April's only partially right there. In some ways, yes, Kat does still think of herself as human, but for the most part, she's simply trying to retain as much of her former Humanity as she can. A lot of Kindred, fleglings especially, try to do that.

Kat watches her for a moment, considering, then nods. "Do it," she says quietly.

April closed her eyes and reached into Kat's mind. It won't be hard to find the Beast, and touch that part of her mind only.

Using the word 'Nightingale', she starts to place a hypnotic suggestion on the Beast. That every time it hears that word, it will go into a slumber. That it will be less able to control Kat... and less likely to desire the blood of others. And that with this word... Kat can start taking the steps she needs to find a better balance between her humanity and her Beast.

"There. It is done."

Kat appears to take several breaths in and out for a bit, eyes closed. She repeats her mantra a few times in her head, "watching" as the Beast falls asleep. "Thank you," she says quietly. She glances over at Bakura for a moment before looking away, biting her lip gently.

Bakura, Yugi, and Yami have been watching the entire exchange quietly, having come out of their own meditations. Bakura drops out of the barchair he's been sitting in and tentatively comes over to lay a hand on her shoulder. "You alright?" he asks her quietly.

She smiles gently at him. "Yeah. Good, actually."

You should tell him. When you are ready... of course... But don't be afraid of telling him of how you feel. Even when it comes to hungering for him. April keeps that statement for Kat's mind only.

There are differences between the type of vampire that Kat is, to her own. April realizes that. And she hopes that that she can help a little. But there is only so much she can do as long as Kat denies her vampire side.

She *will* tell him. At the end of the next Installment in a couple of weeks our time. =P

I'm not scared of telling him, Kat 'replies', I'm scared of what might happen if I do and we do get together. Mortal/Kindred relationships can get... messy...

Is the vampire bite for your kind painful, or pleasurable? April mentally asks. Because if it is the second... and something you both want to look into... I can also teach you control over the hunger. To take only a little, and not let it consume you. Or him.

Pleasurable, Kat admits after a short pause, mentally shuddering as she remembers Zechiel's bite during her Embrace. To the point of addiction, for some mortals, which is part of what I'm worried about.

Ah... yes I can see the dangers. Like I said... I am here to help if you two ever want to take that step. But only when you are ready.

"So... if I am going to visit you all now and then. Be warned that Clark and my dimension moves quicker than most timelines. Next time you see me..." She smiles, touching her first trimester belly. "I could be huge."

Tentatively, shall we say after the Take Back the Night for her next visit?

Kat gives her a short nod and a small amile, before April starts talking, and Yugi automatically assumes they've been having a telepathic conversation of some kind.

He stands up and hugs April. Yami follows suit a moment later. "'Course," he says. "Alright if I try to get in touch with you if something comes up? Just to keep you in the know about what's going on around here? I get the feeling New Year's wasn't the only incident we were intended to stop."

((I plan on doing the next DBFS Installment, Take Back the Night, next weekend, since it occurs in early June. :).))

sounds good to me. She won't expand by that much in that time

"Of course. You guys can always contact me. Any time."

Which'll be weird, since for them it'll have been six months :)

Yugi grins. "Thanks, April. You want us to take you back?"

LOL April never thought their time would go by faster.

"That would be great. Thanks for having me here."

Just for this one time, though =P As far as I know.

Kat stands and nods. "Of course. Thank you for coming, and you're welcome back any time, Mrs. Kent."

Yugi offers a hand to April. "Back to the Nexus? 'Cause I'm not sure I've got the PINpoint code for your reality."

"Thanks Yugi. It was nice meeting you all. I hope to return."

Yugi smiles, grasps April's hand, and PINPoints them both back to the Nexus.
