twinpharaohs: ([Both] Couch)
Day 1: Introduce Yourself
Name's Yugi Mutou. 15 years old, practioner of Tae Kwon Do, gamer, and all around geek. Oh, and I'm playing host to a former Pharaoh of Egypt.

That's a long story.

I live with my Grandpa, Solomon Mutou. He used to be an archaeologist, but now runs a game store in my hometown of Dominion City, OR. I'm... not terribly fond of talking about my parents, so for now let's just say that they're out of the picture. So I'm living with Grandpa.

Until 2 years ago, Grandpa was the one who owned the Millennium Puzzle, which had Yami's soul sealed in it. Grandpa said he was unable to solve it, so he gave it to me, thinking I might be able to do better. I spent a year trying to solve the thing, disassembling it again every time I got stuck. One year ago, one of my friends decided to play a joke on me, stole a piece of the Puzzle, and threw it into the school swimming pool, though at the time he did it, I was unaware. Joey and Tristan teased me a lot, but they were the closest thing to friends I had at the time, aside from Téa, so, while upset, I didn't make a big deal of it.

One of the school hall monitors, who was corrupt as Hell and also a bully, witnessed the event, beat up Joey and Tristan, and tried to get me to pay him an outrageous sum of money for his "protection". I didn't want to, but he threatened me, saying if I didn't, he'd do the same to me.

Look, I didn't have much of a spine back then, okay?

I went home, and while I tried to get the money together, I found I couldn't concentrate on that task. Instead I started working on the Puzzle. Every time before that I'd always gotten stuck at the same spot, but that night, I bowled my way past it until it was finished.

Minus that piece Joey had tossed in the swimming pool, of course.

Grandpa came in about then and dropped the piece on the desk, saying that Joey had dropped it off. ...Well, he didn't say it was Joey outright, but his description of the guy who left it with him matched. After he left, I placed the last piece in the Puzzle.

And that was when I first met Yami.

I'm Tepeysa-Yami, former Pharaoh of Khemet. When I was on the throne, I was known as "Atemu" to most of my subjects. I'm deceased, obviously, and share a body and mind with Yugi.

I was 25 when I died in a ritual meant to imprison a force called the Shadow Games, which would have destroyed my country and people. Myself and eight others sacrificed our lives, and for the most part, we were glad to do so. Personally, if I had to do it all over again, I would, and twice as hard. I can't speak for my fellows, of course.

Our souls were imprisoned in the Millennium Items to help keep the Shadow Games sealed away. Regardless, we knew one day they would start to break free, so when they did start to free themselves, we would wake up, bonded to a single individual who would help us keep the Shadow Games imprisoned.

Yugi is that individual, for me.

I've been "awake" and "living" in the modern world for two years, ever since Yugi solved the Millennium Puzzle. I've found it an interesting experience thus far. Hopefully it'll remain an interesting experience in the future.
